The square, squat building isn’t a tower, it’s a fortified guardhouse and magazine in the style of blockhouse with loopholes for muskets. Constructed in 1778 on the site of a redoubt.

St. Ouens bay gets a bashing from the Atlantic rollers on many occasions and is a surfers paradise. La Tour Carree is another iconic building above the shoreline that partly defines St. Ouens bays history and the surrounding area is stunning.
