All Jersey scenes are inspired not only by their history and character but by the beautiful surroundings. I cannot paint a Jersey scene without delving into its history and finding out more about it. You might find it interesting too.

Built around 1330 at the beginning of the 100 Years War and used to defend Jersey against the French when they occupied the east of the island while Jersey held the west 1461-1467, it has been a ruin since the 16th Century.

I find Grosnez a spiritual, beautiful, wild place of rugged beauty, with heathers and grasses fighting against the elements and winning. Beautiful walks with fabulous views to the other Channel Islands and a wonderful place to watch the sun go down.
