Barge Aground

£20£185

.

A wonderful hand drawn and inked print of Barge Aground, Jersey.

.

All Jersey scenes are inspired not only by their history and character but by the beautiful surroundings. I cannot paint a Jersey scene without delving into its history and finding out more about it. You might find it interesting too.

.

Built in St. Ouen in the 1930’s, this is the last of the seaside follies. Requisitioned in WW2 it was used as a canteen by machine gun battalion 16. After the war, it was a speech therapy clinic, then used by the Scout Association, restored in 2005 and is now rented as a holiday let by Jersey Heritage.

.

Surrounded by long wafty grasses and superb views, along with many other landmarks, Barge Aground helps define the whole of St. Ouens bay which has an abundance of historical buildings.
