All Jersey scenes are inspired not only by their history and character but by the beautiful surroundings. I cannot paint a Jersey scene without delving into its history and finding out more about it. You might find it interesting too.

Le Don Hilton, its official name, is an 18th century guard house and powder magazine. The original one blew up, the current one, standing alongside the sea wall, dates from 1765 and is one of the recognizable landmarks in St. Ouen and the whole Island.

I just had to paint this lovely iconic building. St. Ouen is renowned for it’s beautiful sunsets, so I popped my own version of one above the beauty that is the building looking out towards the L’Etacq end of St. Ouens bay rather that Corbiere lighthouse end.
