All Jersey scenes are inspired not only by their history and character but by the beautiful surroundings. I cannot paint a Jersey scene without delving into its history and finding out more about it. You might find it interesting too.

The only squared tower protecting Jersey, rising proudly from a rocky islet, L’Avison, 1.25 miles/2 km offshore, it was built in 1782 following the 1781 Battle of Jersey. Cut off at high tide, great care and attention to the tide times is needed when walking out there but it’s well worth it.

My favourite place. Walks out here with family and friends, taking our picnic lunches and being off island for a short while is like taking a mini break. Fabulous views and chats with others doing the same or peace and tranquillity, as there is plenty of space out there. Glorious. I took the picture of ‘Seymour from below’ whilst sitting on a rock in the middle of a huge rock pool.
