All Jersey scenes are inspired not only by their history and character but by the beautiful surroundings. I cannot paint a Jersey scene without delving into its history and finding out more about it. You might find it interesting too.

This small, natural harbour lies between very high, steep headlands and was renowned for smuggling during the 17th and 18th centuries. Threat of French invasion led to the building of a battery of two cannons in 1736, the small La Crete Fort 1816-1834 and a pier in 1872.

This tiny harbour has a teeny tiny beach at high tide which extends as the tide goes down. I love the granite harbour and slipways with their pinks, oranges and browns.
