All Jersey scenes are inspired not only by their history and character but by the beautiful surroundings. I cannot paint a Jersey scene without delving into its history and finding out more about it. You might find it interesting too.

This stubby, abandoned southern arm of what was to be a Royal Navy harbour has Archirondel Martello Tower on top of it with a surrounding moat which was built in 1792. The rock used to build this arm is different from the granite used for St. Catherines breakwater and was quarried from the rocky area behind the breakwater called Gibraltar Rock. A very popular beach below makes this a busy place in Summer.
